We Don’t Need More Laws!

by drclarkjensen on January 16, 2012

Do you think the Federal Government can fix what is wrong with our nation by passing  more laws?

Think about it!  What law can fix our nation?  What series of laws can fix what is wrong with our nation? What law has been passed in the past 20 years that we couldn’t live without?

Do we need more laws that tell us what to eat or what we shouldn’t eat?

Do we need more laws restricting what kind of cars we are allowed to purchase or what mileage standards have to be met with those vehicles?

Do we need more laws telling us how much water we can use in our toilets?

Do we need more laws prohibiting  certain types of light bulb or dishwasher detergent?

Do we need more laws telling land owners that their property can’t be developed because the EPA classifies the land as a wetland?

Do we need more laws forcing all citizens to purchase health insurance?

Do we need more laws telling us which doctors we can see and which doctors we can’t see?

Do we need more laws restricting what banks can and can not do, who they must give loans to and how much they can or can not charge for a given service.

(If you answered yes to that question, you are an idiot.  You aren’t thinking.  If the government can control the banks they can justify control of everything else including your home, and your paycheck.)

Do we need more laws telling health-care providers how much they can or can not charge for a given procedure, what tests can or can not be performed, what the justifications for testing must be, who will be allowed to receive testing and treatments for dialysis, heart surgery, cataract surgery… and what procedures and treatments will be allowed?

Do we need more laws restricting businesses?

Do we need more law telling businesses what they must pay their employees?

Do we need more laws telling businesses they must hire unionized workers?

Do we need more laws preventing the search for and extraction of fossil fuel energy sources?

Do we need more laws promoting and subsidizing failed green energy technologies?

Do we need more laws that subsidize anything?

Do we need more laws restricting and controlling the education process?

Do we need more laws creating more agencies to help the poor in our nation?

Do we need more laws creating more agencies  to help the elderly in our nation?

Do we need more tax laws in our nation?

Do we need more law concerning marriage and family?

Do we need law concerning illegal immigration?

Doesn’t it seem funny to you that after all the years of all the legislatures that our nation has seen come and go, there is always someone who thinks the problems of our nation can be solved with more laws and more restrictions to freedoms?

After more than 200 years of legislative, executive and judicial law, does it seem strange to you that the more laws we pass, the more laws we seem to need to pass to fix the mess we created by our initial legislation?  It seems to me that legislatures and governments create the problems they are trying to fix.

If we continue down the path of more law and more government, what thinking person among us believes there will come a time when the laws that are passed will fix all or even most of the problems of society?  We all understand that will never happen.  The path to our happiness and success as a nation is not more law, but more freedom.

We must elect representatives that understand this simple truth.  We need to get back to less government interference in all aspects of life.  Government needs to become our friend again, right now it feels like our enemy.

My son has refused to buy a school lunch all year because they only offer skim milk. He’s wondering why he doesn’t have a choice anymore. At age 11 he knows that the school district is listening to what the govt says to do and has taken away his freedom to choose. I keep thinking he’ll crack and buy the pizza one day but it appears I’m going to have to go to the school and ask the lunch lady for the money that I put in at the beginning of the year.
