The Inconvenient Post

by drclarkjensen on February 21, 2012

When Al Gore came out with his “Inconvenient Truth” movie I didn’t believe what he had to say.  I knew it was spin, smoke and mirrors.  In spite of what I believed, however, many did believe and many of those believers are inhabiting positions of power.  One of them is the current President of the United States, Barack Obama.

As you know Obama has pledged to oppose, restrict and punish carbon based energy sources like coal, oil and natural gas at the same time he has pledged to support so called “green energy” like wind energy, solar energy (think Solyndra) and the electric car industry.  Guess what?  That house of cards is starting to crumble for the environmental extremists.

One crack in the “man made global warming” wall is the recent article in the Wall Street Journal on  Jan 27, 2012 titled, “No need to Panic About Global Warming.”  In the article, which is signed by 16 well known, world renowned, scientists we read these words:

A candidate for public office in any contemporary democracy may have to consider what , if anything, to do about “global warming.”  Candidates should understand that the oft-repeated claim that nearly all scientists demand that something dramatic be done to solve global warming is not true.  In fact, a large and growing number of distinguished scientists and engineers do not agree that drastic actions on global warming are needed…

Perhaps the most inconvenient fact is the lack of global warming for well over 10 years now.  This is known to the warming establishment, as one can see from the 2009 “Climategate” email of climate scientist Kevin Trenberth:  “The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t.”  But the warming is only missing if one believes computer models where so-called feedbacks involving water vapor and clouds greatly amplify the small effect of CO2.

The lack of warming for more than a decade-indeed, the smaller-than -predicted warming over the 22 years since the U. N’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) began issuing projections-suggests that computer models have greatly exaggerated how much warming additional CO2 can cause….

The fact is that CO2 is not a pollutant.  Co2 is a colorless and odorless gas, exhaled at high concentrations by each of us, and a key component of the biosphere’s life cycle.  Plants do so much better with more CO2 that greenhouse operators often increase the CO2 concentrations by factors of three or four to get better growth….

Alarmism over climate is of great benefit to many, providing government funding for academic research and a reason for government bureaucracies to grow.  Alarmism also offers an excuse for government to raise taxes, taxpayer-funded subsidies for businesses that understand how to work the political system, and a lure for big donations to charitable foundations promising to save the planet…

And it is likely that more CO2 and the modest warming that may come with it will be an overall benefit to the planet.

Some pretty impressive scientists signed that letter by the way.  The left is going nuts over that article.  They don’t like to have their “sweet deal” messed with.   By way of contrast to the perspective of the left, however, listen to these words from Ben Crystal in the Personal Liberty Digest dated Jan 31, 2012:

The latest crack in global warming’s crumbling wall appeared last week in the United Kingdom with a quiet acknowledgement by the UK’s Met Office and the University of East Anglia that not only is the Earth nor warming, the oven is off and the pilot light is out.  Moreover, data collected from more than 30,000 measuring stations and released last week have put the deep freeze on global warming, instead indicating that the temperature trend pointed to by global warmists peaked in 1997.

Well, don’t expect the libs to roll over and play dead.  This fight is not over, the propaganda will continue, but at least we are starting to see some of the koolaid drinkers start the recovery process.  The earth has not warmed over the past 10 years.  We may be headed to a normal cooling cycle driven not by man, not by CO2, but by natural cycles of the sun.  We don’t need to worry about CO2, it is not going to destroy the world.

What we do need to worry about is out of control governments that are still trying to control our lives.  We do need to worry about government trying to force green energy down our throats and in the process tax our nation to death.   I am way more concerned about radicals like Obama than I am about man made global warming.

What do you think?
